Senior People Partner
About Paystone
At Paystone, we're building the future of customer-driven growth for small businesses. Our products help business owners build stronger customer relationships and grow their businesses.
We're a team that puts people first, solves impactful problems, and believes there's always a better way to do things. We move quickly, challenge the status quo, and aren't afraid to roll up our sleeves to get things done.
Our People Experience function plays a big part in making Paystone a great place to work, and we're looking for someone who wants to help make it even better.
About the Role
We're looking for a Senior People Partner to support our Revenue and Operations teams as we continue to grow. You'll work closely with leaders to build strong teams, plan for future talent needs, strengthen employee engagement, and help create an environment where people can do their best work.
This role combines business partnership with hands-on ownership of our people programs. You'll bring ideas to the table, help leaders navigate people challenges, and find practical ways to improve how we work, including using AI and automation to make our processes more efficient.
We're a small People Experience function, so we're looking for someone who can work independently while staying closely aligned with our broader people strategy and the way we support employees and leaders across Paystone. Reporting to the Director of People Experience, you'll have room to take ownership, make recommendations, and turn good ideas into meaningful improvements.
What You'll Do
- Partner with leaders across Revenue and Operations to understand their goals, strengthen their teams, plan for talent needs, and navigate organizational and people challenges.
- Coach managers on team effectiveness, employee development, engagement, performance, and employee relations, helping them make thoughtful, informed decisions.
- Own the delivery of key people programs, including onboarding, performance management, engagement, recognition, career development, and compensation, working with the Director of People Experience to bring our priorities to life.
- Look for opportunities to improve our programs and processes, using feedback, people data, and practical recommendations to make the employee and manager experience better.
- Use AI, automation, and technology to streamline workflows, reduce manual work, and find smarter ways to deliver People Experience programs.
- Support our globally distributed workforce, working with employees, managers, and Employer of Record (EOR) partners across different locations and employment arrangements.
What You'll Bring
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience, including experience in a People Partner or HR Business Partner role.
- Experience partnering with leaders on business and people priorities, with a strong understanding of how to build effective teams and support employee growth.
- The ability to think beyond individual issues and connect your recommendations to broader people strategies, philosophies, and established practices.
- A track record of taking ownership, improving processes, and turning ideas into action.
- Experience using AI, automation, data, or technology to improve how work gets done, along with curiosity about what else is possible.
- Strong judgment, attention to detail, and organizational skills. You work independently, manage competing priorities, and follow through on your commitments.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to coach managers, challenge thinking when needed, and build trust.
- Working knowledge of Canadian employment legislation and HR best practices.
- A degree, diploma, or equivalent experience in Human Resources or a related field.
Bonus points if you have:
- Experience supporting Revenue, Sales, Customer Success, or Operations teams.
- Experience supporting remote, globally distributed teams or working with EOR providers.
- Experience with Leapsome, JazzHR, Asana, or similar HR and workflow platforms.
- Experience working in a growing organization where you've had to be resourceful, adaptable, and comfortable figuring things out.
What Success Looks Like
You'll be a trusted partner to leaders, helping them build strong teams and make better people decisions. You'll take ownership of your work, bring forward ideas that improve how we operate, and ensure your approach aligns with the broader People Experience function. Our programs will become more effective, our workflows more efficient, and our employees and managers will have a consistent, positive experience across Paystone.
Why Paystone?
You'll have the opportunity to make a real impact in a growing business, work closely with leaders, and help shape how we support our people as we evolve.
If you enjoy building relationships, solving problems, taking ownership, and finding better ways to work, we'd love to meet you.
